Since January, rumours of a new Sony tablet, the successor to the Xperia Tablet Z, had been doing rounds of the Internet. However, if a new leak published by tipster @evleaks, the specifications for the rumoured Sony tablet, thought to be called the Xperia Z2, have been detailed.
In January in fact, @evleaks had even tipped that a slate codenamed 'Castor' was in the making by Sony. It was then speculated that the new tablet was running a quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC.

On Sunday, @evleaks tweeted a more comprehensive tweet with a more complete set of the specifications. Reports also suggest that it will be a high-end device. The tablet is being touted as the Xperia Tablet Z2, and is said to have a 10.1-inch Triluminos display with a resolution of 1900x1200 pixels. The tablet is also said to be waterproof. The tweet also states that Xperia Tablet Z2 will sport 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, will have 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of inbuilt storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion. The main camera is said to be an 8-megapixel unit, with the front camera being a 2-megapixel one.

The leak also further states that the tablet will be thin at 6.4mm, which, if true, would make it slimmer than the original Xperia Tablet Z, which was 6.9mm thick. The battery is stated to be a 6000mAh and the device is said to run Google latest mobile operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat.

Sony has an event scheduled at the Mobile World Congress on 24 February. It remains to be seen whether the new rumoured Z2 will be the highlight of the event and if so, whether the speculative specs will actually be a part of it or not
